About Lisette
Lisette Kolar has called Grant Valkaria home for decades. She is not a career politician — she is a neighbor, a community member, and someone who genuinely loves this town and wants to see it thrive on its own terms.
Lisette was one of the leaders of the effort to incorporate the Town, which succeeded in 2006. The goal of that effort was to maintain the rural character of the Town in the midst of encroaching development. When she first joined the Town Council, Lisette brought with her a simple but powerful commitment: to listen carefully, act thoughtfully, and always put the long-term interests of Grant Valkaria's residents above short-term pressures.
Roots in Brevard County
My parents moved our family to Brevard County in 1960, and I have called it home ever since.
My husband of 40 years, Ray, and I have lived in various areas of the county over the years. We decided that Grant-Valkaria was the best place to live in Brevard and built a home here 30 years ago.
We are both retired systems engineers and enjoy traveling and many outdoor activities.
I graduated with a bachelor's degree from Florida International University and attended programs in ergonomics at the University of Michigan and industrial engineering courses at the University of Central Florida.
What Guides Her
Preservation
Grant Valkaria's rural character is not an accident — it is the result of deliberate choices. Lisette believes those choices must continue.
Transparency
Residents deserve to know how their town is governed. Lisette has always supported open meetings, clear communication, and accessible government. Lisette is always available to talk to residents and will spend as much time as required to explain the workings of government.
Stewardship
The natural environment of Grant Valkaria — the lagoon, the green spaces, the quiet — is a gift. Protecting it is a responsibility Lisette takes seriously.
Community
A town is only as strong as the relationships within it. Lisette has spent years building those relationships, one conversation at a time. Lisette enjoys working with people and sharing ideas and goals. She will always listen to all sides of an issue to do what is best for the Town. Lisette has championed and organized activities and events that bring the community together.
A Voice for All
Grant Valkaria is a mosaic of distinct neighborhoods, each with its own character — but united by a shared love of the peaceful, rural life they chose. The people of Grant Valkaria come from different corners of the town, but they share a common vision. Lisette feels strongly that her role as an at-large Council Member means she represents that vision for everyone — not just the loudest voices in the room.
Fiscal Responsibility
Careful stewardship of public money isn't optional — it's a duty. Lisette has always insisted on honest, accountable spending that respects what residents work hard to earn.
Why She's Running Again
Grant Valkaria faces real choices in the years ahead — about growth, about infrastructure, about what kind of community it wants to be. Lisette is running for re-election because she believes continuity of experienced, principled leadership matters more now than ever.
She has the institutional knowledge, the relationships, and the track record to navigate those choices wisely. And she has the deep personal investment in this town that comes from living here, being involved, and caring about what it looks like for the next generation.
